2020 has been the toughest and most challenging year for most people(not the least of which is an ongoing pandemic), and many of the most beloved and well-known TikTok couples have ended their relationships, with many who subsequently aired their dirty laundry out online.
Millennials may have looked up to the likes of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston for inspiration while growing up, but the Gen Z era are taking stock in TikTok’s top pairs.
We’ve created a list of the most shocking and high profile TikTok breakups in 2020, with this year being so crazy and unexpected, you may have forgotten about a lot of these past duos.
Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson(aka lilhuddy)
Being the first TikTok couple of the year, Charli and Chase had a lot of pressure on them to prove to society that being a social media couple can work…even though both of them are still teenagers.
Shortly after Charli and Chase broke up in April of 2020, Charli and her sister Dixie both announced that they were leaving the famous Hype House(which Chase’s dad funded).
Not long after Chase attempted to spill some tea about TikTok’s top content creators, Charli quickly shutted him down by saying that he had kissed another girl during their relationship, and that he was being petty.
Dixie D’Amelio and Griffin Johnson
In a star-crossed romance between a then-Sway House resident and a then-Hype House star, Dixie and Griffin were considered by TikTok fanatics as TikTok royalty for their relationship.
The duo broke up in August of 2020, which was merely six months after they posted their first TikTok video together. The “Be Happy” singer and TikTok sensation later accused Griffin of being unfaithful.
As it stands, Dixie us now in a relationship with Noah Beck.

Josh Richards and Nessa Barret
Unlike some of the other couples on this list, Josh and Nessa created a YouTube vlog together to discuss the exact reason for their split. Both of them stated in the vlog that they had grown apart towards the end of their relationship, but that they were on good terms.
The duo continued to post TikToks together after the breakup, and we’re pleased to say that Josh and Nessa are one of the few couples who have managed to keep things civil.

Tessa Brooks and Bryce Hall
The two influencers never publicly confirmed that they were dating (although they did an excellent job of teasing their fans into thinking they were together). Bryce admitted that he’s officially back in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend Addison Rae, so whatever was going on between Bryce and Tessa is over.
Tayler Holder and Sommer Ray
Shortly after the Texas native announced his split from Sommer Ray, he stated that he is now dating Charly Jordan. Tayler and Charly made it official in October of 2020, but speculation about the nature of their relationship began shortly after they were spotted on an apparent date in July.
This transpired before Tayler confirmed that he was single, leading some TikTok fans to believe that Tayler cheated on Sommer.
Drama occurred between Charly and Sommer in the fall of 2020, with Charly accusing the fitness influencer of blocking her.
It’s unclear whether the dust has settled between the two, but Sommer later said that Charly was lying about the accusation.

Koi Cyr and Olivia Ponton
The pair were referred to as “couple goals” by their social media fans throughout their relationship, but they revealed in June of 2020 that they had called it quits. Their breakup came just two months after the duo became official online.
Many believed that the breakup had something to do with Koi being in Sway House, while it was rumoured that Olivia would be joining Hype House.
Zoe LaVerne and Cody Orlove
After dating for more than two years, the pair announced their split in June of 2020. Zoe has since made headlines for all the wrong reasons after a video leaked of Zoe(19-years-old) kissing a 23-year-old kid named Connor Joyce. She was accused of grooming Connor and for being a pedophile.
As it seems, Cody has moved on from his ex, as he has been posting photos with a mysterious blonde on his IG page
Love may be dead on TikTok this year, but 2021 will certainly bring us plenty more social media relationships.
